How to Plan a Stress-Free Sydney Move

There is no way to plan a Sydney move without some degree of stress; but, with proper planning and organisation, the stress is kept to a minimum. Moving is typically a chaotic time of life. But, that’s often due to procrastination, and suddenly you find yourself taking care of necessities like transferring school records, closing accounts and tossing everything into a box at the last minute.

Once you know you are moving, then begin to plan, prepare and implement. The less that needs to be done a day or two before the move, the better you’ve planned and organised your move. Start with making a checklist and follow it! It will be a time save and often prevent heartache. Moving is a time that typically disrupts the entire family, and if you have kids, you have more anxiety as you have to help them feel secure during the move. The toughest part is you are moving from your “home” to a new house, and it is important that you do your best to make your new house your “home” as quickly as possible. If you have a realtor ask them to provide you with an architectural layout of the home. Doing so will help you when deciding what you should take and what won’t fit into the new place.

As soon as you know your moving date, begin to clean, sort and pack. Go room by room, emptying drawers and closets, shelves and cupboards, etc. Keep in mind that you don’t want your new place cluttered with things you haven’t used in years or have no use for. Toss and give to charity or friends that may find a good use for the items. Garage sales are also an option. Remember, you want the new place to look perfect, not like you’ve packed years of clutter into the place. Use the architectural layout of the property to determine how you’ll arrange your furniture.

Don’t wait to hire the movers until the last week or two before the move. Have your Removalists Sydney hired at least a month before moving day. The moving company you decide upon should be competitive, insured and experienced.

Don’t forget those “don’t forget” things like submitting your change of address with the postal office at least a week before you move, setting up your new phone numbers, and notifying your contact list with your new contact information.

Planning and organizing typically lead to less stress when moving. Allow yourself plenty of time to prepare for your move. Have a checklist and follow it, marking things off the checklist each day. Print out postcards with your new contact information for family and friends, and have the children exchange phone numbers and addresses with friends not to be forgotten.
